What to Pack for Winter at Walt Disney World
Swimsuit
That’s right, even if you’re going to Walt Disney World in the winter, pack your swimsuit! Highs might be in the 70s of 80s in the middle of the day and all the pools at the Walt Disney World Resorts are heated. I wouldn’t get your kid’s hopes up because there’s a chance you’ll hit a cold snap and not see the sun all week, but if they’re like my kids the second they see the sun they’ll be begging for a dip in the pool. Just make sure you bring towels from your hotel room or a cover up – the water in the pool is heated, but getting out may be a bit of a shock.
Layers
Bring t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets that you can layer on in the morning, remove during the heat of the day, and put back on for evening fireworks.
Blanket
If it’s really supposed to be chilly while you’re there, bring a blanket. You can use it as a cover in a stroller or while you wait for parades and shows to start. You can also use it as a ground covering for parades and fireworks.
Cold weather accessories
Temperatures will feel colder when you’re whipping through Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Big Thunder Mountain. Pack some gloves and something to cover your mouth and nose on fast outdoor rides.
Hand Warmers
If it’s supposed to be especially cold, you might pack a few of these heat packs to keep your hands warm in the evenings.
A Flexible Attitude
Since winter is a little slower than summer at Walt Disney World, they will often do refurbishments. Anticipate a few rides being down while you’re there. You should be able to find out which rides will be down by checking this site before your trip.
