When you’re on a vacation to Walt Disney World, time is literally money. You have paid for every moment you’re in the hotel rooms or the parks, so it’s important to make the most of it! Here’s how to save time at Walt Disney World.
Top 5 Ways to Save Time at Disney World
Have a Plan
The most important piece of advice I can give you is to have a plan. If you’re standing around wondering what you should do next, 100 people may have just gotten in line ahead of you. It’s probably obvious that I love planning because I create The Ultimate Walt Disney World Vacation Planner, but I created it because I use it every. single. time. we visit the parks. I have our days planned out in 15-30 minute increments. We don’t always follow the plan to a T, but we always know where to go next. It also helps us make wise choices about our FastPass+, which is my next tip.
Get FastPass+
If you’re staying on property, you can get FastPass+ reservations 60 days before the first day of your trip. If you’re not staying on property, but you have tickets, you can make reservations 30 days before your trip. You get 3 FastPass+ reservations per day. They will save you SO MUCH time, especially in the summer. When you walk up to Frozen Ever After and see an hour and a half wait, but you walk through the FastPass+ line in 20 minutes, you’ll see just how essential it is to saving time.
Arrive Early
If you are able to get to the parks early enough, you will probably ride more rides in the first hour than you will the whole rest of the day! If you arrive at the scheduled opening time, you’ll probably wait in security/ticket lines for about an hour before you’re even able to get into the park. I have a whole post about the ins and outs of ‘Rope Drop’ at Disney World.
Eat at Off Times
If you eat when everyone else is eating, you’ll be standing in line and searching for a table instead of riding rides. Try to hold your party off with snacks and eat a later lunch/dinner. To save a ton of time no matter when you eat, check out this next tip:
Mobile Ordering
You’re going to want to take advange of mobile ordering to save a LOT of time waiting in line for food. They have launched mobile ordering at a lot of different restaurants – you can find the whole list here: http://bit.ly/2Pnh3uO.
To use mobile ordering, you just download the My Disney Experience app. Open the app and select “Dining” from the top of the app. Tap on the restaurant you want and press the “Order Food” button. You can pay using the app with your card on file or the Disney Dining Plan. When you arrive at the restaraunt, just click “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” and they’ll start preparing the food. You’ll pick up your food at the “Mobile Order Pick Up” window, avoiding the line for ordering food.
